by Kathy Melvin | Presbyterian News Service LOUISVILLE - San Gabriel Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, Texas, has long supported the work of mission co-workers Jeff and Christi Boyd in the Democratic Republic of Congo. But when the Boyds visited their church and they heard about Congolese children like Serge, they knew they could do more, even with limited resources.
San Gabriel Presbyterian Church is a mission-focused church dedicated to serving those in need in our community and to giving 10% of our income to mission programs. Through the efforts of our tireless members time and giving through special offerings and fundraising events, San Gabriel provides generously to mission efforts locally, regionally, internationally and denominationally.

REGIONAL MISSION OPPORTUNitIES
Presbyterian Pan American School
San Gabriel financially supports this Christian, international, college-preparatory boarding school in Kingsville, TX. We also sponsor visits from the students and send our youth there for mission trips. PPAS is a racial/ethnic ministry of the PCUSA.
Church Under the Bridge
CUB is a combined effort of churches in the area that offers a weekly worship service, a meal and fellowship to support the Austin area homeless. San Gabriel volunteers periodically serve, distributing donated goods and providing music. The Church and its members also contribute financially and with donated goods.
Women’s Storybook Project of Texas
This program targets children with mothers incarcerated in the Texas prison system. In this new project for SGPC, volunteers assist mothers to record, in their own voices, books and personal messages to their children, helping keep them better connected during the period of incarceration.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
San Gabriel and its members give generously to help those affected by hurricanes and other disasters through the PDA Fund.
international mission opportunities
Jeff and Christy Boyd are missionaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo and serve as Regional Liaison for Central Africa. San Gabriel supports the Boyds’ missionary work financially and with prayers.

SGPC supports an international program benefiting children & young families, usually as part of our Christmas program.
PCUSA SPECIAL OFFERINGS & SERVICES
Christmas Joy Offering
This offering helps provide financial assistance to current and former church workers and their families and enables deserving students to attend Presbyterian related racial ethnic colleges.
One Great Hour of Sharing
These gifts enable the church to share God’s love with those in need around the world by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, providing food for the hungry and empowering the poor and oppressed
This offering helps the church encourage, develop and support its young people and also addresses the needs of at-risk children.
Presbyterian Children’s Home and Services
San Gabriel financially supports the PCHAS, which provides Christ-centered care and support to children and families in need in our area.
Presbyterian Theological Education Fund
San Gabriel supports this fund that is the sole source of denomination-wide funding for the twelve seminaries from the PC(USA). Gifts to this fund help ensure every church has a seminary-trained pastor.
